Great Gifts for Travelers

December 16, 2019 By admin

If you’re looking for gift ideas for the globetrotter in your life, you’ll love this post. My holiday gift guide is full of great gifts for travelers to enjoy at home and away…

Great Gifts for Travelers

TRAVEL MUST-HAVES:

Gifts for Travelers

Digital Luggage Scale – My number one travel accessory is this easy-to-use luggage scale. Stop guessing if your bag is under 50 pounds and say goodbye to extra baggage charges.

Packing Cubes – I am a huge fan of packing cubes, especially for families since each person can choose their color. Just group items or outfits in cubes and packing will be a breeze.

Hanging Toiletry Bag – I keep my toiletry bag packed so I can just grab and go. Zippered compartments are perfect for travel accessories and the hanging design keeps bathroom clutter to a minimum.

Travel Jewelry Organizer – Keep your jewels safe and never lose an earring again with these colorful jewelry boxes. The small size and compartments make this a great option for quick trips. And remember, never ever check your jewels in luggage!

Reusable Shopping Bags – These are so useful for shopping at home and away. They also double as road-trip snack bags, beach totes and laundry bags. Choose from solids, prints and metallic options – an easy gift for travelers.

Travel Adaptor – A must for every globetrotter. Keep your favorite electronics charged wherever you go. Pick a different color for everyone in your family.

Travel Sized Laundry Bag – For the traveler who has everything, this world map laundry bag is a fun gift. I love that it folds into a tiny travel pouch with a carabineer.

TRAVEL INSPIRED GIFTS FOR TRAVELERS:

Gifts for Travelers - Travel Inspired Gifts

Show Tickets and Personalized Shirt – For the Broadway fan on your list, a pair of tickets to an upcoming show and a personalized shirt to wear make a great gift. I used my Cricut Explore Air™ 2 machine to personalize a “So Fetch” shirt for a Mean Girls lover in sparkly pink.

Scratch Your Travels USA Map – Travelers will love highlighting their US adventures as they scratch off each state they visit. Add a frame and you’ve got a great family gift.

Travel Scarf – A travel scarf is always a good idea and this infinity version with a secret hidden zipper pocket is a great gift for travelers all ages. Choose from solids and patterns.

50 States, 5,000 Ideas – This comprehensive National Geographic book is full of sightseeing ideas in every state. A great gift option for families.

FOR TRAVEL LOVING FOODIES:

Gifts for Travel Loving Foodies. Great Gifts for Travelers

Bokksu – For the adventurous eater on your list, a Bokksu box filled with Japanese snacks and teas is sure to please. A great option for travel-loving families who like to try new foods. Choose from monthly subscriptions in two different sizes.

Custom Etched Map Glassware – For the coffee or hot cocoa drinker, wine aficionado and spirits lover on your list, I love Well Told Designs glassware etched with a favorite city, college town, airport, island, marathon route and more. Choose from pints, rocks, wine, mugs, mason jars, champagne flutes, etc. and you’ve got a great gift for everyone on your list.

Sitka Salmon Shares – For seafood lovers, gift a box of seasonal wild-caught seafood – straight from Southeast Alaska and the North Pacific! Sitka Salmon Shares, a community-supported fishery, supports sustainable fisheries and delivers the freshest catches from boat to doorstep. Use code SITKA25 to receive $25 off any 2020 Premium Sitka Seafood Share.

Trader Joe’s Chocolate Passport – Every holiday season Trader Joe’s brings out their cult favorites and their Chocolate Passport is a great option for every traveler on your list. Perfect for stocking stuffers, teacher gifts, etc.

BEST FAMILY ACTIVITIES FOR TRAVELING:

Great Gifts for Travelers. Best Family Activities for Traveling

Tenzi – I’m a huge fan of easy-to-pack family games and Tenzi is one of my favorites. This multi-dice game is easy to learn and fast to play. There are several variations which help keep boredom at bay. Add in the 77 Ways to Play The Add-on Card Set and you’re guaranteed hours of good fun.

Playing Cards – An oldie but goodie, playing cards are easy to bring along on any trip making them great gifts for travelers. From Go Fish and War to Canasta and Rummy, everyone on the trip will find something to play. Other options include Solitare and building card houses.

Match-O-Rama – From the makers of Telestrations, Match-O-Rama is a great game choice for multi-generational family trips. The better you know the players, the easier you can predict how others will answer. Or maybe not? Easy to learn, fast to play and sure to keep the whole family entertained.

Kodak Premium Puzzles – Puzzles are a great activity to bring along on a vacation. Choose from easy to hard (depending on the ages and patience levels) and the whole family can enjoy. Kodak has a lot of travel-themed options (Boston, Italy, Greece, US National Parks and more) perfect for travel-loving families.

The Perfect Accessory for …

May 12, 2015 By admin

My daughter loves jewelry as much as the next girl but most of her treasured baubles fall into two categories – easy to break or too fancy for school. When we recently discovered the CHARM IT! collection of super adorable charms, bracelets and necklaces, we were both thrilled.

CHARM IT!, CHARM IT! Giveaway, Girls, Gift, Jewelry, Charm bracelet, great gift, kids

The Perfect Accessory for Globetrotting Girls: CHARM IT! + Giveaway

In addition to being affordable at $5-6 a piece, the charms are rugged enough to wear every day but also dressy enough to wear for special occasions. Best of all, the charms are so cute and on trend with a fun mix of colorful pieces (some with glitter and acrylic stones) that connect to the bracelets and necklaces with easy to open clasps. Best of all, mini fashion designers can personalize their own necklaces and bracelets with hundreds of charms inspired by fashion, food, travel, animals, hobbies, sports, characters and more.

Since charm bracelets (and necklaces) are a great souvenir to remember favorite vacations, I asked my daughter to pick her favorite travel inspired charms and she chose a Yellow Taxi, Palm Tree, Pink Eiffel Tower, Pink Camera and the Love to Travel Suitcase.  I surprised her with it on our recent trip to Miami and she attached the charms to the necklace with a bit of help. Look how cute it turned out…

The Perfect Accessory for Globetrotting Girls: CHARM IT! + Giveaway

I think CHARM IT! bracelets and necklaces are a great gift to remember a trip, celebrate a birthday or commemorate a special occasion. The charms can also be used as a reward for kids or to celebrate something special in their lives (lost tooth, good test score, first concert, etc.). If you’re looking for a personalized children’s gift that won’t break the bank, CHARM IT! bracelets and necklaces will not disappoint.

2014 Holiday Gift Guide Part …

December 12, 2014 By admin

Last week I featured my holiday gift guide for all the kids and parents on your list and today I’m back with some fun family friendly gift ideas! Stay tuned for my picks for the best holiday toys.

FOR THE REST OF THE FAMILY:

Holiday Gifts, Aunts, Cousins, Grandparents, Nieces, Nephews, presents, jewelry, calendar, games, chocolate, blanket, old navy, globetrotting mommy

Globetrotting Mommy’s 2014 Holiday Gift Guide

For jewelry loving aunts, these tres chic Jet Set Candy luggage tag necklaces are sure to please. Moms would love these too – hint, hint…

For the cousins, I think this colorful Novogratz-Designed “Family” Blanket from Old Navy is too cute. Pair it with some DVDs and movie snacks and you’ll be all set.

For grandparents who juggle a million appointments, what could be better than a personalized photo calendar?  I made this one from Shutterfly but there are so many great options out there. I love that you can add in family photos, birthdays and other special family dates.

For nieces and nephews – Kids love getting games for the holidays but imagine how many bonus points you’ll score for giving them a game with chocolate game pieces?  Yes, edible! Gamesformotion has taken some of the best family friendly games (Candy Land, Guess Who, Monopoly, Scrabble, and others) and added Belgium milk chocolate playing pieces! My daughter and I tried these first-hand and we both think these will be a win with the kids.

FAMILY FRIENDLY GIFTS:

Holiday Gifts, Family, Aunts, Cousins, Grandparents, Nieces, Nephews, presents, chocolate, globetrotting mommy, flowers, Teleflora, Trader Joe's, Cookie, Ice Cream

Globetrotting Mommy’s 2014 Holiday Gift Guide

For the whole family, I love the idea of a year-long subscription gift so the Jeni’s ice cream Pint Club is a great fit. The lucky recipient gets three pints of Jeni’s dreamy ice cream delivered four times a year. Sign me up!

For chocolate lovers – Small edible gifts are always a win around the holidays and Trader Joe’s has some really fun options. Their Chocolate Passport set and Dark Chocolate Covered Star Shortbread Cookies (and mini stars in mint) are my personal favorites.

Speaking of cookies, cookie decorating is always a fun family activity but if you’re too tired to bake, Walkers shortbread cookies come in festive shapes making them a tasty option. Grab some frosting in a tube and sprinkles and you’ve got a fun no-planning holiday playdate.

If you’re looking for a fun family gift that can be used year after year, I love the idea of sending flowers in a keepsake cookie jar. Teleflora’s Gingerbread Cookie Jar Bouquet is a festive arrangement in a hand-painted gingerbread-house cookie jar that also includes a recipe for Chocolate-Dipped Cookies.

Have a great weekend!

When The Duchess of Cambridge became a mom, women across the world wondered how she’d combine her glamorous life with motherhood.  Kate Middleton has a way of making everything look easy and her hot new mommy necklace from Merci Maman, a UK-based e-boutique is just another example of her simple yet chic style.

The hand-engraved “Duchess” necklace features three charms suspended from a gold plated long chain:  a mini heart engraved with W representing Prince William, a disc with her baby son’s full name George Alexander Louis, and a sweet little boy charm.  It starts at about $150 making it a very affordable option in the world of celebrity mom necklaces.

Order yours now, demand for the necklace has already skyrocketed.  I think this would be a great present for any new mom…

March 3, 2014 By admin

Looking for a kid-friendly activity to celebrates Marti Gras at home? Fat Tuesday is tomorrow and while my daughter is too young to enjoy the debauchery of Marti Gras in New Orleans, she’s just the right age for making beaded necklaces out of candy! Here’s a tutorial to make your own New Orleans inspired candy necklace to get you in the celebratory mood.

Globetrotting Mommy – Spotlight on New Orleans: Marti Gras Inspired Candy Necklaces

Grab some string or ribbon, scissors and edible treats with holes in the center to string and you’re good to go. Twizzlers, Life Savers, gummy circles, Cheerios and Fruit Loops are ideal for this project. Kids can design a pattern, create monotone creations or just pick and choose as they go. This is a great project for kids of all ages but younger kids might need some help with stringing.

Cut the string and tie a candy at one end with a knot. Add candy and cereal until you’ve perfected the design and length. Knot the ends and slip it over your heads.

Stella and Dot’s new …

November 12, 2013 By admin

Every little girl I know adores dress up.  The more ruffles, jewels and tiaras the better, according to my daughter who is four going on 14.  Since so much of the plastic princess jewelry breaks in about three minutes, we’ve gone through a lot of heartache over broken baubles. I was super excited when I attended the Fashion Forward Conference and learned that Stella and Dot, a real jewelry company known for their quality and fun styles, had introduced a girl’s collection.

Globetrotting Mommy - Stella & Dot

Globetrotting Mommy – Stella & Dot

The styles are perfect for little and big girls with an adorable and chic mix of butterflies, flowers, pearls, rhinestones, chunky beads and fun charms.  I love that they are casual enough for the playground and classroom yet dressy (or fancy as my kid says) at the same time.  Globetrotting girls will especially love the Paris with Love Necklace and matching Paris Trio Earrings.

Here are some of my Stella and Dot favorites for girls:

You’ll have a lot of fun deciding on your map…think childhood home, spot you met your spouse, where you got engaged or married, best family vacation, favorite landmark or hotel, summer camp, college, or hospital where you gave birth, etc.  For more personalization, you can engrave the back.
