Great nursery finds: travel …

September 30, 2013 By admin

When I say Skittles do you think candies in a rainbow of colors or a bowling-type game????  They’re both right answers but today I’m talking about the old European lawn game which inspired ten-pin bowling, candlepin bowling in the US and five-pin bowling in Canada.

I love the idea of incorporating toys into a nursery’s decor and these cheerful Skittles sets will add just the right splash of color and fun.

These sailor skittles would be a great addition to a nautical themed nursery or a Mediterranean inspired room.

This set of Penguin Skittles from Muji is adorable for a zoo inspired nursery or Antarctica themed room.

This rare mini French Clowns Skittles set dates back to the 1930s and would add a vintage feel to any primary colored nursery or playroom.

This adorable Soldier Skittle Set from MiniStyle is perfect for a Royal baby themed nursery or a great way to add a pop of color into any room.

These would also make nice birthday or baby shower gifts!

Move over coffee …

September 25, 2013 By admin

Did babyproofing your living room mean getting rid of your coffee table?  Mine did.

If you’ve got a little one running around like a mad man, here are some fun travel-inspired poufs that can add extra seating and double as a table (just put a tray on top but don’t bring out the wine glasses until after bedtime)…

Traveling First Class? Moroccan Poufs have stood the test of time and this tres chic version from Serena and Lily comes in an array of grown-up and kiddie colors (bronze, silver, white, tan, turquoise, lime and pink!).  These are a great option for living room or nursery.  You can definitely pass this one down to the next generation (unless someone gets hold of the Sharpies…)

Traveling Coach? This vintage travel inspired Sam Moore Ottoman would be super cute in a travel themed nursery or playroom.

Traveling Economy? This Indian inspired pouf from Etsy is made from old saris, vintage fabrics and seashells and comes in a whole slew of gorgeous colors.  This is just perfect for a bohemian chic nursery or teen bedroom.

The Map Necklace: A most …

September 24, 2013 By admin

You know how hard it is to find a present for that person who has everything? I love this unique gift idea for the impossible to please guy or girl!

Introducing The Map Necklace from Three Jane…

Globetrotting Mommy - The Map Necklace

Globetrotting Mommy – The Map Necklace

You choose the address (from anywhere in the world!) and Jewelry Designer Katie Schloss custom designs a necklace, bracelet or cuff links!  Your personal location is highlighted with a crystal stone and the surrounding streets are engraved onto the 14K gold plate.

You’ll have a lot of fun deciding on your map…think childhood home, spot you met your spouse, where you got engaged or married, best family vacation, favorite landmark or hotel, summer camp, college, or hospital where you gave birth, etc.  For more personalization, you can engrave the back.

Can’t decide on just one spot?  Get a few and wear them layered.

These make great gifts for moms, dads, grandparents as well as older kids heading off to camp, college or a semester abroad.

These are perfect for boys and girls who love all things aviation or vacation.  If you haven’t already stocked up on your back-to-school supplies, act now.  Here are some options I designed for your viewing pleasure…

Globetrotting Mommy – Mabel’s Labels

Now that my daughter is in preschool, every sippy cup, lunch box, shoe and coat she owns must be labeled and Mabel’s Labels are the sturdiest labels I’ve ever used.  I’m talking my dishwasher has a sanitize button that melts plastic, yet these survive perfectly…So cute, right?

These also make great birthday or holiday presents for the kid who has everything…or the mom who likes to keep things organized.

Have a great weekend!

Goodbye ponytail…hello …

September 19, 2013 By admin

Do you spend so much time getting your kids dressed in the morning only to realize you have a whole four minutes left to get yourself out the door.  Pretty much every single day, right?

I’ve got some good news for busy on-the-go moms!  We can now say goodbye to boring mommy ponytails and hello to chic and easy top knots…

I attended NYC’s Fashion Forward Conference last week (yes, I was at Fashion Week!) and this little goody was in my goody bag…I hereby introduce you to The WRAP UP™, the newest addition to my favorite hair accessories list…

Globetrotting Mommy - The WRAP UP

Globetrotting Mommy – The WRAP UP

You put your ponytail through the center slot, pull it up towards the end and simply roll it down and fluff the hair around the base. Sounds complicated but I swear the whole thing takes about 20 seconds! Voila. Here I am testing my mad hair skills at the Sarah Potempa booth last week.

Globetrotting Mommy - The WRAP UP

Globetrotting Mommy – The WRAP UP

So much more sophisticated than that boring ponytail, right?  Works at home or away…playground, supermarket, date night, stroll around Paris, early morning safari.  You get the picture.

The WRAP UP™ is perfect for all ladies with shoulder length or longer hair (with long or no layers) and makes a great gift for a new mom.  Available in yellow, brown or black, you’ll definitely want to stock up on these for your next trip.

What are some of your favorite hair accessories?

September 18, 2013 By admin

Children’s allergies are no joke. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics one out of every 12 children, or 11.8 million, has a food allergy and the CDC reports that one in 10 children have Asthma.

If you’re traveling far away or just down the road for a playdate, make sure your kids with allergies or illnesses are protected with these must-have products from AllerMates.

Got a kid with more than one allergy?  No worries, the multi-allergy wristband can fit up to six health charms (everything from peanuts and food dyes to I Carry an EpiPen®).  Enter to win one below!

They also carry a wide range of “Do not let me eat ____.” stickers as well as lunch and snack bags that say “I have allergies” or “I’m Wheat Gluten Free.”  And they have just launched a line of EpiPen®, Auvi-Q and Asthma Inhaler carrying cases

DIY Toys for home and away …

September 12, 2013 By admin

Do you do like to do crafty art projects with your babes?  Do you like to travel?  Here’s a win-win idea for DIY toys you can use at home or away.

If your kiddo is obsessed with dramatic play time like mine, you will love this DIY pretend city idea I spotted on Kids Activities Blog. Since you really can’t fit a dollhouse into a suitcase, this is the next best thing.

Globetrotting Mommy - DIY Toys for travel

Globetrotting Mommy – DIY Toys for travel

With just paper bags, old newspapers, paint, markers, stickers and a stapler, your little architects can create towns big or small. You can make them in advance and stuff them when you get to your destination or you can use your travel surroundings for inspiration. Imagine a skyline, a beach village, or a small town.  So cute.

Bring along some super heroes and princesses, Little People, My Little Pony toys or Barbie dolls and you’re good to go.

What are your favorite toys for traveling?

Globetrotting Mommy - Back to School Shopping - Masala Baby India Rose

And when they outgrow them as a dress, they will be just as perfect as a tunic top.  A great choice for your budding fashionista.

And, if her little sister wants to match, check out the Kolam Coral or Diamond Net Pink sets from the Mini Masala Twosies collection.  Matchy matchy is so very cute on the under 10-set.
