2) This is New York by Miroslav Sasek (ages three and up). I have loved this book for years. The classic storybook shows many details of city life with cartoon characters and colorful illustrations. It may seem a bit dated but it still captures the spirit of New York.

5) Little Kid, Big City (ages five+). Written by a popular NYC blogger, this book is full of first-hand tips for visiting a slew of Big Apple sights and attractions. Kids “choose” their own adventure as they read by deciding “where to go” and flipping through the gorgeously illustrated pages. The fold-out map is super handy for little navigators.

Kids have super chaotic schedules so calendars are a great way to teach the elementary school set how to keep track of their activities and gym day. And this Strong is the new Pretty wall calendar is an awesome way to for girls to welcome in 2018.

FYI, I got this kit at Staples which is a great spot for buying, wrapping (think holiday paper, gift bags, ribbons and bows) and shipping holiday gifts in just one trip, a nice bonus for busy moms.
